“Ever since you, that woman and her!” Elaine pointed at Rebecca “came here, this place has been on it's head, bad thing's keep happing and the way of the rings is falling apart, I did think it was just Rebecca, so I put crushed sleeping pills in her drinking water that you and that useless Dominic where giving her. But things never got better, so who else was there, you and Emma. Now getting to you was going to be hard work, as you all ways seem to be with someone. Emma was a much easer target. As she loved her dancing so much, all I had to do was tell her that the poles had been fitted in the bar room and then wait for her to go in there”
Elaine paused for a second before going on “How she screamed when I jumped her from behind wrapping that wire round her neck. How she struggled while I handcuffed her hands behind her back, and I'll never forget how she bled when I started cutting into her” Elaine stopped again, a smile came over her face as she remembered. “she screamed so loud I was able to her over the music, “Elaine stop please stop” She shouted for someone to help her, but no one came, she pleaded for her rotten stinking life, begged me to stop right up to the moment I stabbed her in the heart. the look on her face when I did that was, shock”
Elaine stopped and let out a long breath. Clare taking a chance rushed at Elaine, but she was ready for her. From the waist band of her dress she pulled out a knife and swung it at Clare. The speed of Clare's attack and the sudden rush of pain from her arm made Clare push right past Elaine into the wall on the other side of the room. Clare turned to see Elaine coming at her again, knife in hand. Clare ducked as the knife swung at her, and shouted at the top of her voice “help me!” “too late for that” Elaine said back, pointing the knife at Clare's face. “fuck off” Clare replied. “Mind your mouth” said Elaine, as she carried on waving the knife in Clare's face. Seconds passed while they eyed each other up. At last Clare kicked out at Elaine, pushing her back. Elaine rushed back at Clare again, swinging the knife as she did. Clare moved to one side causing Elaine miss again. The knife smashed into the wall and Elaine struggled to pull it back out.
Clare lashed out again, this time tying to kick Elaine in the chest, but Elaine saw it coming and was able to grab Clare's foot. She pulled it and Clare went crashing to the floor. Elaine stood over Clare, the knife raised above her head. Clare closed her eyes and put her arms up waiting for Elaine to come crashing down on her. But it never came.
Clare opened her eyes again, Elaine had seemed to stop in mid flow, her mouth dropped open and the knife slipped from her hand and clattered to the floor behind her. Blood was dripping from her mouth, and she seemed to be having a hard time breathing. Elaine put her hand up to the side of her neck, and found that her fingers where covered in blood, Spurts of blood where spraying up the wall. As she dropped to her knees, she struggled to rise, but collapsed face first into Clare's lap. Shocked by the horror of it all Clare kicked her self free of Elaine's body and pulled her self to her feet. She saw Rebecca standing with a pair of scissors in her hand. Rebecca's face was blank, her eyes blood shot.
The door smashed open and Dominic rushed into the room “Clare what's going on” he said, scanning the room. He saw Rebecca with the scissors and went for her, grabbing her by the neck.
“Dominic, stop” Clare screamed. “Rebecca's not the killer, she's just saved my life.” Dominic let Rebecca go and saw Elaine's body for the first time.
“Elaine killed Emma and was trying to kill me when Bex's stopped her.”, Clare went on. Dominic gently took the scissors from Rebecca's hand. She slumped down on to the bed, her eyes closing once again.
Anton was next to rush into the room “Clare, it was Elaine who killed Emma, you can see her going into the bar room from one of the other cameras just before the tape runs out.” Dominic stepped to one side and Anton was able to see Elaine laying on the floor. Anton paused, “Is she dead?” he asked. Clare reached down and felt for Elaine's pulse. She looked back at Anton and Dominic, and nodded her head.
“David get the shovels out” Anton called down the stairs. “What do you mean get the shovels out?” Clare said back to him “we need to get the police involved, not just bury them under tree.” “you don't have any say in this Clare” Anton replied “Dominic, take Elaine's body to the truck, then join me in the bar, to get Emma's” “yes sir” Dominic said. He waited for a moment before picking up Elaine's body and carrying it out of the room.
Anton waited until Dominic was out of ear shot before talking again “Clare don't you mess with me, remember out here I'm god, In the fields no one can hear you scream.” He threatened. He grabbed Clare's hand and pulled off her firsts ring and chucked it out the door, “you don't have right to be a first any more” Clare turned away from Anton saying as she did “I'll be and do what I want,” Anton shouted back “Fucking bitch, don't turn your back on me” he grabbed Clare spinning her round to face him, he said shaking her violently “you will do what I fucking say or I'm going to take you and that other stupid bitch outside and shot the pair for you” “You don't have the guts” Clare replied in a cold voice. He slapped Clare across the face making her stumble. Clare came back up and spat in his face, Anton wiped his face with his hand then ran it down Clare's blood soaked sleeve, making sure he pressed hard where it looked cut. Clare never let it show how much it hurt as he did so. This had become a battle of wills. Anton was ready to explode, but in the end he shouted “fuck you!” right in Clare's face and left the room. Clare wanted to smash something and this time no one was going to stop her. She rushed out on to the landing and saw Anton going down the stairs, she grabbed the small table that was there are chucked it at him, The table missed Anton by inches, he turned and looked at Clare “That temper of yours is going to end up getting you killed one day” He finished going down the stairs, picked up Clare's firsts ring then turned down the corridor that lead to the bar. “Go fuck yourself” Clare shouted after him.
Clare went back in to the room and put Rebecca back into bed. “Get better soon, my sweet thing, we need to leave as soon as we can”. She kissed Rebecca on the forehead and found her self being hugged, She let it go on for a moment before pulling herself free, Clare looked down into Rebecca's face. Her eyes all ready seemed to be much clearer, even in the short amount of time from when she last saw her. Clare then sat down on the bed, reached for her bag that was next to the bed and pulled out a small pouch. She opened it and let a small gold ring drop into her hand. She turned to Rebecca and said “I hate to lose” while slipping the ring on to her finger. She then lay down next to Rebecca, and soon fell into a dark and restless sleep.
It was morning when Clare next awoke, her arm hurt from the night before, and there was blood stains on the sheets. She turned to wake Rebecca. But she was gone. “Rebecca” she said as she got off the bed. Clare ran to the top of the stairs. “Rebecca” she called. She ran down the stairs, and into the front room, “Rebecca” she shouted getting frantic. Clare ran down the corridor, looking in room after room calling out Rebecca's name, She turned the corner into the low corridor, just as Dominic came out of his room. “What's up Clare” he said in a sleepy voice, “Rebecca's missing, she was sleeping next to me last night but when I awoke, she was gone” Dominic looked passed Clare and into the courtyard “Is that her” he said pointing.
Clare looked out into the courtyard, Rebecca was standing in the middle of it, the morning sun shining on her. “Rebecca don't move” Clare shouted and run back though the house and into the courtyard “Bex's you scared me leaving like that” Clare said as she got closer to her, Rebecca turned and looked at Clare. “Rebecca?” Clare asked again. “It's Sun shine” She still seemed dazed from the drugs. “Yes sun shine” Clare replied, looking at her uneasily. Rebecca turned back so the sun was shining on her face again.
Dominic had got to the door of the house by now with David just behind him, they both watched Clare and Rebecca. David said after a moment “with the sun shining on Bex's like that, you can see right though her night shirt” Dominic replied “don't you think I've spotted that”. Clare never heard what they said but waved them to keep silent. “Well I'd go with it” David said as he walked back into the house. “you don't stand a chance” Anton joked from the top of the stairs. “she's got some taste, I think” he went on as he came down.
“Bex's you must be cold?” Clare asked walking round to face Rebecca. “Why don't we go back inside the house” She reached out and got hold of Rebecca's hand, it was cold to the touch “you are cold Bex's, let's go back inside and get you warm” She spotted Anton, David and Dominic watching them and gave them a dirty look “come on inside please Bex's, look everyone's watching you” Rebecca turned round and smiled at the boys.
“O yes I would go with that” David said again as he turned back into the house. “No chance” Dominic said as he followed him, “There's a queue, get in line” Anton joked making his way back up the stairs seeing that Rebecca had been found.
Clare got Rebecca back into the house, with a bit more sweet talking. That and some pushing and pulling. They made there way to the kitchen, where another of Anton's seconds had just put the kettle on. “Dianne” Clare said puffing as she pushed Rebecca into the room. “I would love some tea” Dianne was a big woman who liked her food, “guess you would liking some breakfast at the same time” she said getting plates out from a cupboard. “I'm not going to say no” Clare replied sitting Rebecca down in a chair by the table. Rebecca was attracted by the farm cat, still out of it.
“She's not all there” Dianne said trying not to be heard by Rebecca. But Rebecca was happy stroking the cat that was now purring loudly. “What do you think, you would be like after what she's been through.” Clare muttered walking across to Dianne. “Need any help Dianne” she asked as she got closer. “Don't be daft. I do all the cooking around here and what with only the six of us here, it's easy, it's when your cooking for nine or ten you need the help, and do you get any? I ask you” Clare looked sideways at Dianne “No!” they both said at the same time. Clare set about helping Dianne get breakfast ready for everyone in the house.
